Biopsy Cone Pregnancy

If the sample taken is much larger than normal, it could easily cause the patient to not carry full term. Although a small tissue sample is alright to take if needed for testing while pregnant, a cervical conization is not recommended to be performed if the patient is pregnant.

Follow up Pap smears should be performed through out the 40 weeks to check on the abnormal cells. If abnormal cells are present on the cervix, a cryotherapy can be performed as a second exam, but a conization or treatment should be put off until after the baby is born.
